Dali Salvador Museum

If you have never heard of Dali Salvador, don’t worry because I hadn’t heard of him until I traveled to Florida. I quickly learned that he was a famous Spanish artist known for his unusual works of art. Google Dali Salvador and you will see why people take pictures with a giant mustache at the museum. The museum is located in St. Petersburg. There is a ten dollar parking fee. I recommend going on a Thursday as the rate is discounted after 5pm. There is a permanent exhibit and an exhibit that changes every few months. Be aware that you may not take pictures at the temporary exhibit. You will be given a headset, so that as you walk through the museum you will learn about each of the pieces of artwork. This is definitely not a family friendly activity as some of the artwork is for mature audiences. This was my first time at an art museum and I have to say it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea. I like museums that are interactive and hands on.

The outdoor garden portion was a lot of fun. It was very interactive and perfect for pictures. There is a giant mustache and a melting bench with the famous melting clock. There was a maze that you can go through that we definitely got lost inside. There was also a giant chess game. I don’t know why, but I have always wanted to see a giant chess board and it didn’t disappoint. The museum is located right off the water and the views are incredible. It would be such a beautiful place to have a picnic.

After the museum, we headed over to the Dallas Bull which is located in Tampa. They had a country line dancing lessons that we joined which was so much fun. We definitely weren’t dressed for the occasion. If you go here, wear cowboy boot and shorts! After the lesson, we went to the beautiful and historical Columbia Restaurant. It is the largest Spanish restaurant in the world and the oldest in Florida. The inside of the restaurant was so beautiful and the food was so delicious. It was founded back in 1905 by Cuban immigrants. I love dining at places that have history behind them.

After dinner we headed back to the Dallas Bull and we were amazed at what we saw. Every single song that came on had its own line dance which everyone followed exactly! I literally felt like I stepped into a scene of Footloose. Carla and I tried to get in there and we were a hot mess so we gave up and watched from the sidelines. It is so much harder than it looks! I really wish we had something like this in my home town. I think this is definitely one of those things everyone should experience at least once in their lifetime.

On another note, if went from winter to summer over night! Last week I wore my winter jacket and the heat was on in my house, today I am wearing my shorts and a tank and all the windows are open! This weather is something else. I hope you guys have a great rest of your week. Thank you for reading!

xoxo
